A purity result is produced by integrating peaks on an HPLC trace, and two materials can both integrate to 98% while being noticeably different. A single narrow, symmetrical peak at 98% is one thing. A peak at 98% with a pronounced shoulder, or with a cluster of small late-eluting peaks, is another, and the difference tells you something about what the other 2% consists of. Deletion sequences tend to elute close to the main peak because they are chemically similar; oxidised forms shift in a characteristic direction; aggregates can appear as broadening rather than as a discrete peak.

None of that is visible in a percentage, which is why the chromatogram matters more than the summary line. Regulatory position, stated plainly

Calgary and Edmonton are different delivery problems
